PICTURE OF THE WEEK
It’s been a very interesting 18 months. Have a look at the digital photos you or your family has taken in the last 18 months. See if you can find one picture for each week and create a story about 2020-2021. You might even see some fun lockdown ideas you had last year to recreate in 2021!
This is similar to the notion of 1 second per day, a challenge to record 1 second of your life every day and turn it into a movie. If you think you already have this footage, then download the app and see how it turns out!

GRATITUDE PHOTO ACTIVITY
Gratitude has powerful outcomes, particularly during challenging times. The act of finding things we are grateful for, acknowledging and appreciating these can have profound impacts on both on short term mood and long term happiness. Gratitude can be practiced in many ways, including by photographing things that give us joy, either as a reminder in an online album or to create a photo board.
This activity provides you with two possible gratitude list of things to find and photograph around your home that may bring you joy.

MINDFULNESS RAINBOW
The benefits of mindfulness are well know. While mindful podcasts and audio programs are useful, there are also simply ways that we can practice mindfulness that only take a few minutes.
The mindfulness rainbow is designed to be done at any time that you need to take a few moments to breath, centre and refocus. The image provides you with a visual guide to help your breathing and each time you complete a set of breaths (starting on the outside of the rainbow and working inwards) you complete a quick activity at the bottom, before breathing again.
As with any mindfulness, it takes practice and this is a great place to start.

CGGS SERVICE LEARNING - LETTER WRITING
While taking care of our own wellbeing is extremely important, during these times we feel it is just as important to extend this care out to our loved ones as well as others in the wider community who may be having a particularly tough time. Would encourage you all to write a letter to either a nursing home or to someone you feel needs a bit of extra love, such as a grandparent. We have already made some connections as a school with Benetas Broughton Hall and Baptcare Hedley Sutton so these nursing homes would be great options to write to.
Some suggestions of things to include:
-Tell them about yourself. For example, what year level you are in/your age, what your interests are, the school you go to etc
-Talk about how you are going with online learning as well as how you are coping with the restrictions
-Some things you may be doing to keep yourself entertained while in lockdown
-What your plans are once restrictions are lifted
-You may even want to share a story, joke or riddle you feel they might enjoy
-If you would prefer to, rather than writing a letter you may want to send a card or drawing or any other art/craft items you have made (or feel free to do both)
If you choose to write a letter to one of the nursing homes we have a relationship with, feel free to send them to Ms Gordon to pass on to the residents on your behalf; otherwise, you are welcome to post them yourselves.

SNAIL MAIL
There are numerous scientific benefits of writing a hand written letter to someone you care about. Now more than ever, letters provide an opportunity to connect with people and can help us to feel loved, show kindness and they give us a moment to reflect on what is important to us.
Letters don't need to be long, or deep and meaningful but simply express to the receiver what you are thinking, feeling, experiencing. Your letter could be in the form of a poem, a drawing, a joke or recipe that you think they might enjoy.
The final step in your letter writing is to find a stamp and an envelope and then post it!
Have fun!
